Local Expertise for Midwest City
The Original Mile — the square mile between Air Depot and Midwest Blvd, SE 15th to SE 29th — was platted in 1942 and 1943 by W.P. Atkinson as housing for Air Depot and Tinker workers. Those are small-footprint homes on modest pitches, and the ones that have never been re-decked are still riding original plank sheathing under two and sometimes three layers of shingles. Country Estates, Ridgecrest, and Royal Meadows fill in the postwar ranch era. The genuinely useful thing to know is that a large block of northwest Midwest City was rebuilt after 1999 and again after 2003, so a lot of "new" roofs in that corridor are now twenty-plus years old and coming due all at once.
We serve homeowners in Original Mile, Country Estates, Ridgecrest, and surrounding Midwest City neighborhoods. Our crews know the local building codes, conditions, and project patterns specific to Midwest City.
Local Note
A lot of the housing here turns over on Tinker's PCS cycle, which means roofs get inspected on somebody else's closing timeline rather than the homeowner's. If you're selling into that market, a deferred hail claim on a twenty-year-old post-1999 rebuild is the thing that blows up a contract two weeks out.

Local Landmarks
Central Oklahoma Storm History
The storms that shaped how we build roofs here.
May 16 OKC metro hailstorm
Softball-size hail across the metro — still the benchmark event Oklahoma City roofs are measured against.
May 20 Moore EF5 tornado
Over a thousand homes damaged or destroyed; reshaped how central Oklahoma thinks about roof decking, fastening, and rebuild codes.
April 19 metro hailstorm
Large hail raked the metro with insured losses in the hundreds of millions — a spring-season reminder that filing windows matter.
May 22 wind & hail outbreak
Another multi-county wind and hail event in the heart of storm season — same-day tarping calls across the metro.
Notable Events in Midwest City
Local events, weather patterns, and demand drivers that shape how we approach projects in Midwest City.
-
May 3, 1999 — the Bridge Creek-Moore-Oklahoma City-Del City-Midwest City tornado, F5 at its peak, crossed SE 29th and I-40 into Midwest City; damage in the city was surveyed as high-end F4, three people were killed here, a Boeing building was destroyed, and roughly 800 vehicles were damaged at Hudiburg Auto Group
-
May 8, 2003 — an F4 tornado touched down on the west side of Moore and tracked east-northeast through southeast Oklahoma City and Tinker Air Force Base into the Midwest City and Choctaw area, running nearly the same corridor as 1999
-
October 26-29, 2020 — the early-season ice storm hit most of the OKC metro with widespread destruction of trees and power lines, and Oklahoma County was named in the state's federal disaster request
Local Conditions & Codes in Midwest City
Climate & Conditions
Midwest City sits directly on the track that produced both the 1999 and 2003 violent tornadoes — the same southwest-to-northeast corridor out of Moore across Tinker. That is not a coincidence of geography so much as a consequence of how supercells organize along I-35 and turn northeast. Between tornado seasons the city takes the OKC metro's normal spring hail load, and the 2020 ice storm showed that winter accretion here is heavy enough to strip gutters and fascia.
Building Codes & Permits
Midwest City is a separate municipality from Oklahoma City with its own building and permit office, so Oklahoma City's reroof-permit rule does not apply inside Midwest City limits — confirm current requirements with the City of Midwest City permit office. Every roofing contractor operating in the state must be registered with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board and display that registration number in advertising. Oklahoma law also makes it illegal for a contractor to pay, waive, rebate, or absorb your deductible.
